PURPOSE
Excavation “E” Permits are construction permits issued to the public (not a California Public Utility Commission Franchisee) to perform excavation work in the public right-of-way per LAMC 62.02, 62.03, 62.04, 62.05, and 62.06 (all sections and sub-sections).
DEFINITION
The Excavation “E”-Permit (formerly known as Special Deposit Permits from the Operations and Control Manual) are issued to Applicants who wish to excavate on private property adjacent to a public street where lateral support to such street or improvements or property within such street is imperiled by the excavation. Other types of Excavation “E’ Permit work can include, but is not limited to:
- Installation of Private Conduit
- Installation of Private Services
- Tank Installation
- Tank Removal
- Excavation and/or Walls Affecting Lateral Support Incl. Shoring
- Encroachment of Vaults, Footings, Caissons, Walls, Driveway Bridge
