2 - General Conditions & Requirements – Excavation E-Permits

GENERAL CONDITIONS OR REQUIREMENTS


Excavation “E” Permits (formerly known as Special Deposit Permits) are for the installations, inspection, repair, abandonment or removal of any tank, pipe, conduit duct, tunnel, or footing, or for any other purpose, or for any excavation on private property adjacent to a public street where lateral support to such street or improvements or property within such street is imperiled by the excavation.

Applicants are encouraged to apply for an Excavation “E” permit on-line at https://engpermits.lacity.org/public/control.cfm?action=Services.  Payment must be made in person at the Public Counter of the applicable District office.

Depending on the E-Permit being applied for the submittal requirements are specified within each document under E-Permit Technical Procedures.  For all E-Permits, a dimensioned and drawn-to-scale engineering plan is required for projects when requested by the City permit engineer.  All work shall be in accordance with the BOE’s Standard Plans which are available on the Internet at http://eng2.lacity.org/techdocs/stdplans/index.htm.

Safety requirement for Excavation E Permits shall follow the Safety Guidelines for Development Services permits.

 

PEAK HOUR RESTRICTIONS


Peak hour restrictions and exemptions for Excavation U Permits shall follow the Peak Hour Restrictions/Exemptions Guidelines for Development Services permits.
