3 - Cancellations and Refunds - Excavation "U" Permits

CANCELLATIONS / REVISIONS


Cancellation IconOnly the Excavation “U” Permit Manager (or someone with similar rights/permissions) can cancel or revise a permit after it has been issued. 

 

 

 

Cancellations

In order to cancel a Permit, City staff should take the following steps:

  1. Select the desired permit
  2. Click “Process Application” on the left menu
  3. In the Processing: Status Comment field enter the following:
    1. Cancellation request date
    2. Requestor’s first and last name
    3. Reason for the cancellation
  4. Change the Permit Status to Cancelled
  5. Click “Update” at the bottom of the screen
  6. Upload a copy of the applicant’s cancellation request as an attachment by clicking on Attachments on the left menu and “Add Attachment”
  7. Email the Permit Cancellation to PW Accounting

If the applicant would like to re-instate a cancelled permit, this can be done by taking the following steps:

  1. Select the desired permit
  2. Click “Process Application” on the left menu
  3. In the Processing: Status Comment field enter the following:
    1. Resubmittal request date
    2. Requestor’s first and last name
    3. Reason for the resubmittal
  4. Change the Permit Status to Resubmitted
  5. Click “Update” at the bottom of the screen
  6. Upload a copy of the applicant’s resubmittal request as an attachment by clicking on Attachments on the left menu and “Add Attachment”

If an A-Permit was also issued as part of the Excavation “U” Permit, the Permittee shall contact the District Office from which the A-Permit was issued and provide the following:

  1. Written request for cancellation or withdrawal of the A-Permit
  2. The A-Permit Number

Per LAMC 62.05(b)(3), once a permit has been issued, even with no resurfacing done, there is a minimum charge of $31 (or greater) collected to recover the City’s administrative costs per LAMC 12.37 I.1.  

Refunds for an Excavation U Permit may be obtained through the Claims for Refund process (City Charter Section 350).

Refunds for Excavation U Permits happen when an application is withdrawn or cancelled, any unused monies would be refunded to the Applicant minus any fees to cover City staff time. 

If a work order was opened by BOE staff, BOE would close the work order by submitting the work order closure request.  Any monies owed would be refunded. 

Once the work order is closed/cancelled City staff would update the information in the on-line Excavation U Permit application.  Information documented should include the date of cancellation and reason.  A copy of all the documents received on the application are uploaded and/or filed.
